Reproductive Health Bill : An Issue for 2011 - News - Opinion

Since this is not yet a law, many people are voicing out in this issue because it promotes contraceptives.

All of these sources are all in the province of Cebu. Majority of them are Catholic Church leaders.

Cebu is located in the Central Visayas Region or know nas Region Seven in the Central Philippines. This is near to the Province of Negros Oriental.

As a Protestant, I am the representative writer because majority are writing in the newspaper. I accept their suggestion.

This is only my opinion of this article and I am not against of it.

According to Msgr. Achilles Dakay, the media Liaison Officer of the Cebu Archdiocese said that "We don't just need dollars, we need morals." Dakay noted that "How low wages have driven Cebuanos to work abroad and that workers need to rely not just on income, bu the word of God."

According to the Parish Priest of the San Fernando Rey Parish in Liloan Town no other than Msgr. Sindulfo Irarte, said that "the Filipino family as a basic unit of society is being threatened with the rising divorce cases, acceptance of Civil weddings without blessing and distributing condoms."

According to the Parish Priest of the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral no other than Msgr. Roberto Alesna said that "the faithful should continue to seek God's words"Another source that I gather is from Msgr. Renato Beltran, of which he is the Vice Chancellor of the Archdiocese said that "Modern technology should be used for a good thing. It should not be used as a tool for us to forget our Christian values. Msgr. Beltran mention that "he called on the youth to steer clear from the negative distractions of technology and the internet."

From Msgr. Dennis Villarojo, a team moderator of the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Capitol said that "the distribution of contraceptives especially to women would just lead to their moral exploitation instead of saving them." and he added that "their use provides a false sense of security"

Last but not the least, no other than Archbishop Jose Palma- the Archbishop of Cebu said that " The Cebuano flock should thank the Lord for giving the Seor Santo Nio de Cebu and the Virgin of Guadalupe to them." and Archbishop Palma added that "they continue to strengthen our faith and through all this year , we have been together in the name of their love"

As you can observed, they are talking more on unethical and immoral issues for the humans. This source is cam from Candeze R. Mongaya, a reporter from Cebu Daily News which was published on April 24, 2011 issue. This newspaper can be seen in the province but their website will last only for five years but mine will last forever and the same time, it is lifetime article.

For email response about this issue, you can send it to , for hotmail you can send it to , for gmail, you can send it to , for those who are migrating in United States you can send it to

My Trip to Bohol Island - Travel - Destinations

By: Sindy

(Excerpt from CELISTIAL June - July 2009 issue)

My favorite trip is coming.Saturday morning, my friends and I assembled in the Celi's lobby at 8:30 A.M. We waited for the bus that will take us to the pier. Everyone was expecting this trip. After two hours on the boat voyage, we arrived in Bohol Island smoothly. Even though it was raining, we still felt happy

and excited.

The driver took us to the Loboc River First, but there were too many people during lunch time.We decided to change the schedule temporarily. Then we came to a special place, and watched the most famous animal ``Tarsier'' there.Tarsiers are a kind of monkey with very big eyes. They are really very small and cute. They are not hyper, and never move almost. I think maybe they are not really lazy. They are hardly workingfor their jobs. So they are always still and just move their necks to face many cameras everyday. They always open their big and bright eyes to be professional models. Anyway the tarsiers catch my attention successfully. I really love them.

After visiting the tarsiers, we went back to the Loboc River. We had a very special experience to eat lunch on the river. We rode a boat and ate buffet. During the meal time, there were a guitarist and a singer singing for us. Their voices were really good and gave us relaxed feelings. We can enjoy the beautiful view, delicious food and joyful music at the same time. I won't forget it easily.

The third place we arrived was Baclayon church. It was built in 1727,and it was the oldest coral stone church in the region. How lucky we were! When we arrived there, we saw a couple of newly wed. The bride wore a pretty long white gauze, and there was so much happiness on her face. The groom was also a handsome guy. I think they'll live together happily until their hair become black.

Then, we came to our hotel that was near the sea. I order a beef steak and a cup of coconut juice for dinner. We can eat dinner and listen to the voice of the sea wave. during the dinner time, it rained again. I don't worry about the rain falling. I enjoyed the natural and harmonious music in this beautiful night.Sunday morning, we finished the breakfast at 9:00 A.M. We went to the beach with pure and white sand. The sun was shining upon the sea. Everything became dazzling and bright. I took many photos there.

After a short beach time, we decided to ride a small boat and went to visit another island. The boater took us near an island. We wore the life vests and swimming glasses. Then we jumped into the sea. I watched many kinds of fishes and colorful corals under the sea. The diver performed a splendid feeding show for us.He dived into the deep sea, and ripped the bread in his hands. Then there were many fishes swimming to him quickly. It looked like a dancing party under the sea.

We enjoyed every activities in Bohol Island. It was really a special and wonderful trip experience for me. Someday I will come back to Philippine, and I will visit Bohol Island again.

Travel to the Philippine Islands Is Safe - Travel

Some people may be reluctant to travel to the Philippine Islands because of what they perceive may be political instability in this South East Asian archipelago nation.

True, the Philippines Islands have had a history of military coups; bandits that kidnap foreigners for ransom; a minor communist insurgency problem and Islamic secessionists. But all these are far less dramatic than what news reports suggest. The Philippines is generally a peaceful place to visit and even an ideal place to live. The thousands of foreigners and expatriates who have found their second home in the Philippines are proof of that fact.

The Philippines is not just one island, but an archipelago of 7,107 islands, and one of the primary industries that supports the economy of the Philippines is tourism. The Philippines enjoys a constant flow of visitors from Europe, the US, and neighboring Asian countries like Japan, China, Taiwan, and recently a flood of Koreans, many of whom stay for good.

In addition to being a spectacular destination for adventure sports such as SCUBA and snorkeling, fishing, mountain biking and boating, the Philippines is also known as a popular place to have a romantic vacation. Many resorts go out of their way to hold spectacular wedding ceremonies, while most accommodations have facilities to accommodate honeymooners.

Filipino culture is a fusion of pre-Hispanic indigenous civilizations of the Philippines mixed with Hispanic, American, Chinese and Islamic cultures.

The Hispanic influences in Filipino culture are largely derived from the culture of Spain and Mexico as a result of over three centuries of Spanish colonial rule, and particularly evident in literature, folk music and dance, language, food, art and most importantly religion. The Philippines is the seat of Christianity in Asia; the first Roman Catholic mass was in Cebu in 1521, courtesy of Ferdinand Magellan.

Despite foreign influences, many of the Philippines old myths and legends, customs, traditions and beliefs have been retained and practiced until this day by much of the indigenous folk.

Colorful native legends; warm and friendly people; immaculate sandy beaches and miles of clear blue ocean combine to make the Philippine Islands a highly recommended safe vacation destination.

The Siege by Stephen White - Publishing - Book Reviews

This is a terrific thriller which unfortunately degenerates into making a political point I, for one, disagree with. However, I give the author credit for a lot of good research and cleverness. And for a distinctive style of presenting his characters. I'll read more of his books, and hope I don't have to have more political arguments with him.

For various reasons, The Siege by Stephen White is a disturbing book.

It's intelligently written and well-thought out. The basic situation is well set up. What if terrorists or somebody else managed to take over the Book and Snake Yale "secret society" tomb in New Haven Connecticut and hold a number of America's best and brightest -- sons and daughters of elite families -- hostage?

As portrayed, the building could be rigged so that, if breached by law enforcement, explosives would go off and kill the hostages.

What if some of the hostages are released at irregular intervals, then either killed in a manner calling to mine the war in Iraq or allowed to go free?

White shows how suspects could still communicate. At one point, they have a video uploaded to Youtube.

Unfortunately, White chooses to end this standoff with the suspects choosing to shut down their psycho-drama. He does such a good job of boxing in law enforcement so that it's helpless, that there's no legitimate way for law enforcement to save the lives of the hostages no matter how much high tech equipment they bring to bear.

(And this book is a virtual catalog of all the ways the FBI can obtain information from within buildings. The author seems to be up on his research into the latest FBI technologies and tactics.

His three protoganists are an unlikely trio. An FBI agent acting independently to track down terrorist threats -- driven by PTSD and grief from survived the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing which killed both his wife and baby daughter.

His married CIA analyst lover.

A suspended policeman whose girlfriend's daughter is about to marry the son of a wealthy family with a daughter held inside the tomb.

The author is a psychologist, and it shows. No other thriller author I know of, except Thomas Harris when trying to show how different Hannibal Lector is, concentrates on the inner lives of his characters, their psychologies and relationships.

In the end, all three play a vital role in bringing the kidnappers to justice, but it was the CIA analyst who understood the message of the kidnappers and managed to prevent the bloodshed they were hoping to cause.

Unfortunately, the whole point of the book is to condemn U.S. policy of making war in Afghanistan and Iraq. See, we carry arrogance with us.

As presented in this novel (although their history is based on a historical episode, I'm not as sure as the author is that the wedding was simply that.), the kidnappers have a legitimate grievance.

But the whole "blame the U.S. for everything" crowd conveniently ignores the responsibility of the fanatic Muslims.

It's sad that innocent people have died in Afghanistan, but would the author prefer the Taliban remain in charge? Even after Osama bin Laden and Al Quaida killed 3,000 innocent people on September 11? And now women in Afghanistan can work instead of starve at home. And little girls can go to school. Shouldn't that count for something?

It seems liberal apologists take for granted the evil of the jihadists, but are quick to judge people who fight back against the jihadists. When the jihadists kill innocent people on purpose, that's accepted with a "what can you expect?" attitude. When the US military kills innocents by accident, they're the evil -- or, in this book, arrogant.

And by giving weight to the Murrah Building bombing in this book, White is obviously pointing out that non-Muslims can do horrible things too.

True, and I'm not sorry that McVeigh was executed.

But White seems not to know there's evidence that McVeigh's co-conspirator Terry Nichols may have been trained by jihadists in Cebu The Philippines. If true, that would mean McVeigh was being used by Islamic terrorists. Even if not true, the jihadists have proven themselves capable -- in London, Spain, Mumbai, Bali etc -- of deliberately killing the innocent. Where is the author's outrage over that?

The U.S. did not start the war, despite what Mr. White seems to think. He comes across as having some elite arrogance of his own. It's time innocent Muslims blamed jihadists for their violence and hold them responsible for their actions. If the two brothers in this novel had devoted as much time and effort to organizing Afghanistan against the Taliban as they do in this book directing their efforts against the U.S., they'd be real heroes and would help prevent lots more violence. That's my take on it.

He's a good writer, and I hope his many other books are a lot less political in intent.
